What working through us actually means
You're not on a bidding site
We're a managed staffing partner, not a marketplace. You don't compete against four hundred profiles or undercut yourself to win work.
Paid in dollars, on schedule
Compensation is set before you start and paid on a fixed monthly schedule. No chasing invoices.
One client, full attention
You're placed with a single U.S. business on U.S. business hours, so you build a real relationship instead of juggling strangers.
Someone in your corner
If something goes wrong with a client, you have our team to go to. You are not on your own.
How the process works
Four steps. We'll tell you where you stand at each one.
Send your application
Your background, the work you want, and your availability. Takes about ten minutes.
Screening and English check
A short conversation to confirm your experience and how you communicate in English. This is where most of the filtering happens.
We match you to a client
We look for a company whose needs line up with your strengths. We don't send you to roles you'd hate.
Meet them and start
You interview with the client. If both sides say yes, terms are set and you begin.
Are you the right fit?
Use this guide to see whether your experience and work style align with what we're looking for.
- Professional English, ready for client calls
- Two or more years of experience in your field
- Available for full U.S. business hours
- Comfortable as an independent contractor
- Ready to commit to one client, full time
- English not ready for live calls yet
- No professional experience in the field
- Only free outside U.S. business hours
- Expecting employment with benefits
- Looking for side work or short projects
Close but not quite? Apply anyway. We keep strong people in our pool and come back to them when the right role opens.
Questions candidates always ask
What does the pay look like?
It depends on the role, your experience, and the client. What we can promise is that you'll see a specific number before you ever speak to a company, and it won't change after you start. We don't ask anyone to interview blind.
Does it cost me anything to apply?
No. Applying is free and it stays free. Our clients pay us, never our professionals. If anyone ever asks you for money to be placed, it isn't us.
Am I an employee of Mate&Work?
No. You work as an independent contractor, not as an employee of Mate&Work or of the client. Mate&Work connects you with opportunities, provides the hiring process, onboarding, methodology, training, and ongoing support to help you succeed, while you remain an independent professional providing services under a contractor agreement. The full terms are available in our Terms of Service.
Do I work directly for the client?
You work with the client day to day, but the engagement runs through Mate&Work. That's how we can step in when something goes wrong, sort out scheduling, and keep your terms consistent. It also means arrangements outside Mate&Work aren't permitted while you're placed with a client through us, or for a period afterwards.
What makes an application stand out?
Specifics. Name the tools you actually use, the size of the teams you've supported, and the results you can point to. Designers should send a portfolio, developers should send links, and finance people should say which systems they've closed books in.
How long does the process take?
Screening usually happens within a couple of weeks of applying. Matching depends on what roles are open when you come through, so it can be quick or it can take longer.
Do I need to live in a specific country?
You need to be based in Latin America and able to work U.S. business hours. Beyond that, the country matters far less than your experience and your English.
What happens if I'm not matched right away?
You stay in our talent pool. When a role opens that fits your background, we come back to you. You don't need to reapply.
